The Patch is an emblem or logo of a specific style of Martial Arts System. A person that belongs to it is recognized and respected by other styles. The Patch also strengthens and unites the members of that particular system.

Each system or style of Martial Arts has a patch which was designed by the Master or founder of that system and may have received help by the students or Black Belts that belong to the system.

The Patch, although egg shaped in design, represents the circle of life and the continuing effort we should always put forth in our search for knowledge.

Karate means many things. It means learning to walk away from conflicts, avoiding fights if at all possible and not using the self defense skill you have learnined unless absolutely necessary. You are learning an inner life and strength not possible to obtain from lifting weights.

The colors and meaning of such will now be explained:

  • The Black on the outside circle of the Patch is to remind us to dispel all negative energy. Negative thought destroys our spiritual and physical bodies. Karate is a way of Life...
  • The White background represents purity of heart and conduct... to be Honorable in thought, word and deed.
  • The Wings of the Dragon are Purple and represent the highest form of spirituality, that of looking within.
  • The Red represents the Sun (energy) Ki, Strength, Warmth. Red is also represents courage, focus, drive and perseverance in daily life: to show others that a person of integrity stands before them.
  • The Green represents Life. It teaches us to respect all living things... human beings, animals and Earth. Everything has a right to life, and not to be killed or mutilated senselessly. If we destroy our environment (Earth), we destroy ourselves.
  • The yellow represents strength of character; to be good in all you do and to always give 100% effort in everything you become involved in.
  • The Physical Dragon:
    • The Dragon appears friendly and kind, not aggressive.
    • The Dragon's eyes are compassionate and reflect a special knowledge.
    • The Dragon's claws are not fierce but they do represent the Dragon's ability to defend itself, its power and strength.
    • The Dragon stands on a rock, the symbol of stability and strength. A mist surrounds the rock, showing that strength does not necessarily have to be physical. Mental strength and flow are essential to become a Master of Karate.
